Busy Busy...

White is the Ben Fikkert. I'm tatting #4 of 12 motifs.

Blue is new, a design... I'll keep you guessing!

Ten To Go

These take a fair bit of time... and thread. I hope I am going to have enough white. As it is, I have used almost a full ball already.

Boredom won out and I yearned to tat more than just plain rings, though I love mignonette.

So, I pulled out Jon's book of covered rings, grabbed some new #80 - which I had to double to reach a near #30 -  and some lovely teal beads...

It measures about 21/2 inches.
Feels wonderful - nice and substantial!

Taking Shape

This 14 inches of tatting has taken a lot of time.

Luckily, the Lizbeth thread is not giving me grief - only about
five knots in the white so far, so I cannot complain!

These were definitely crazy-making, fiddly elements:

This little monkey, usually so vocal,
wouldn't talk to me as I tatted the last few.

Tatted Trivet

That is what happened to the hat.

Yes, a trivet; that hat, now a kitchen item, has already
been given to a young couple who just became engaged!

I have tried this pattern several times and it always lies flat,
never curves into a hat. I'm done trying!

Done with the thick thread too. It's a wrist destroyer!
Look at the difference: #80 compared to #12 perle:

Here is the progress of the Fikkert piece, which is S-L-O-W going.
And fiddly. Those little ovals are not fun.

Hankering For Hats

In spite of now having time and space for this:

I found myself in the crochet thread shop, purchasing this perle #8 thread  to tat a Jan Stawasz cap for my little seven month old cousin!

Love that red.

It's Done!

Almost 17 inches in #40 Lizbeth.

Thanks Renata, for the fun and the challenge. Tha last row was quite something, as it seemed endless, but here I am. Across the finish line.

Now on to the Ben Fikkert pattern...

Bye Bye Blue

Had to take a break from the biggies;the Renulek, which is very nearly done, and the Fikkert, which is awaiting my 100% concentration.

I like the fern-like structure of the long leaves and the square shape:

About a 2” square in #40 Lizbeth...last of the blue! Yay!

But, be cautioned; this is a very fiddly design.
Drove me up the wall. But so pretty.

and it was the inspiration for mine.

The pattern is here:

Wiosna 2015 - Last Row

Lots of tatting in this round.
Hope the thread doesn't run out.
#40 Lizbeth... B' bye!
About 17 inches.

Bonnet For The Boss

But first... progress.
Row 9 begun:

I started the row with the linen colour quickly realizing it had to be done in gold, so I started the row anew. Better.

The bonnet? I was in the Dollar Store and saw yarn for a dollar. In my days of professional knitting, I would have layed neither finger nor hook to this lot! But, The Boss never did get her desired pink and blue cap this year, so what else was I to do?

Crocheting iis not something I choose to do anymore - in fact I hated it so much I binned the extra yarn as soon as I had finished the last stitch. Luckily it took only about an hour and a bit to get the thing done.

Little Brother will wonder where his hat is. He will be taken to the Dollar Store for a toy of his choice. He will be happy with that. No more hats

Happy International Tatting Day!
