Proof of Prodigious Production

Anybody recognize this yet?  I am working on the next colour now.

On the thread supply... this is what is left.

If you have been following my progress, you might remember that there were always two plastic bins - though neither was filled as much as this one.

Nevertheless, I have really taken a good bite out of my initial stash. There has been a lot of tatting over the past two years!  Yes!  I am determined to whittle this accumulation down by at least a quarter before I even think about adding to it!

I'm lying.  I think about it all the time.  But I have a lot of will power.  Make that: bull-headed inflexibility.

  1. What a cute header! Great captured moment! A Star is Born!!

    Glad you've regained your enthuiasm.
I have no illusions about getting through my thread stash - I can't believe how much I have, and I'm sure not plowing through it! But I like knowing it's there!

It's interesting what you're working on. Can't say that I recognize it!

  2. Good for you! It will take me a long, long time to whittle my stash down to that size, but I'm working on it!

I love the new look of your blog!

  3. Gorgeous Green Grandstanding......and I have absolutely NO idea what it is, but it's pretty!
My thread stash is a bit larger than that - something to aspire to! However, to my credit, I stopped stashing wool years ago, it requires too much husbanding and takes up too much space. Thread doesn't get eaten by moths. I keep all the tiny balls of DMC 80 in an old-fashioned glass jar - very decorative, but if I use one, I have to immediately replace it.I couldn't bear it to be empty!

  4. You know, don't you, that once you whittle it down and get new thread, one of the threads you used or got rid of will go perfectly with the new one and you'll have to get it again?

I have a drawer for size 20, for size 30, for size 50, for size 12 (and 16) and for size 60 & 70 and another for an assortment of 40, 50 & smaller in odd lots. Also one for "sewing threads" and for blending filaments and unusual bits. Plus a whole drawer cabinet for embroidery threads. I really don't know how I accumulated all this. Really, I don't.

  6. Gasp!!! I think I would die if my stash ever got that low! What happens when you don't have *just* the right color? I totally relate to what Gina says!

  7. Can't say that I recognize your latest tatting project, but it is a fascinating work in progress!

Will you be submitting it as a Palmetto Tat Days logo design? If so, the deadline (as you probably know) is March 16th.

Your dwindling thread stash, has me seriously worried. Are you SURE you aren't suffering from a thread-eating bacteria?

  8. I think I’m right there with Gina. Especially with the embroidery thread from all the years I did counted cross-stitch. Skeins and skeins.

I try to keep my same size threads all together..so I can reach in and pull out the size I want quickly since choosing the color is the main challenge. BUT they are all down the stairs and so ‘mysteriously’ a stash has begun in decorative boxes in a low basket under my bed. Have to keep them in boxes or Pippa would make off with the lot. The other day she stole off with a small bead holder (box from DS9) and batted it around for awhile. Ended up under the bed and DH on his tummy fishing it out. I can’t get down on the floor any longer or it’s “Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” time. Very weird to have always been athletic and get stuck on the floor at 74; Frustrating. (sigh)
    Enjoy your flexibility folks...LOL
